We are called to local missions work and outreach in our community
According to Acts 1:8, (NIV-But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.) we are told to reach out to those in our community. The verse goes on to tell us we are to reach out to surrounding areas and ultimately we are to reach out to everyone, everywhere.
Local missions projects are very important to Grace Church East. We are currently serving our area by serving breakfast to people in downtown Granite City, IL. We have partnered with JOY-FM and the Serve St. Louis Project to help local residents with projects around their home. Next weekend we are collecting shoes (Barefoot Weekend) which will be distributed to those locally in need as well as those in need in Haiti and the Philippines.
We are connected (and we support) a local food bank and a clothing shelter. We also can help local residents find full-time or part-time work in the community. We are happy to be able to help those in need in our community and pray God continues to bless our work, so we can bless others.
